Now you Know thanks to this great article written by Andrew Beaton at the Wall Street Journal
For starters the top three The Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas, and Oklahoma are all valued over a BILLION dollars! That is not your eyes playing tricks on you, I said over a billion dollars.
Ryan Brewer, an associate professor of finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus conducted a study which analyzes what each team would be worth on the open market if sold like a professional sports franchise. The results are astounding and disappointing. The findings leave me with many unanswered questions…..
The Ohio State Buckeyes football program is valued at $1,510,482,000!
- Where does all this money go? What are the rest of the athletic programs valued at?
- Is their money to fund more scholarships or even free education for their students?
- With 126 Ohio Four Year Colleges and Universities and 233 other Ohio Colleges, Community Colleges, and Trade Schools. Can we not find a way to make higher education free or at the very least affordable to all Ohioans?
We should be encouraging education, information, and good decision making. Rather than ignorance by enslaving our youth with an insurmountable debt without much life experience. I believe it is time for an educational upheaval in our beloved U.S.A! A reform is necessary….Making $ense….yet????
